A recent post made me think and then write this...
Sandra wrote about its not an instant magic ability ...very true and wise words indeed..
What we don't realize is that with your sensitivity and ability comes great responsibility..
There is and should not be a race to be the new para celeb..or the next big medium ..its not fun..it ain't cool and its bleeding hard work most of the time dealing with day to day life as well as having to deal with the afterlife too!
Being a medium is not offered on school career days..its not a job its a vocation..and its one that requires dedication..humilty and lots and lots of patience..
You in a sense devote your life as an instrument of spirit..a 24/7 telephonist to the otherside....
You will have bad days and good days as Sandra said and not all of you reading this are mediums..no...you are not...just as all mediums are not psychic and some psychics can be mediums...
There is a stuffy myth that says that mediums are born and not made..there is a modicum of truth there ...as some have a natural aptitude to develop where as poor old Mavis who has sat in circle for over 15 years and not got a sausage will still be sat there for the next ten years as she is in denial that her skill is in fact as a healer!
We have to put on many hats and try them all...sooner or later you will find your strengths and you should focus on them..and if thats not as a psychic mega star then too bad....its not for everyone...and I can assure you it ain't glam!
Let me set out what it is like to live with your shields down and be open 24/7..a nightmare...you will be bombarded in the shower ..on the loo...talking with friends....walking along the high street...you will get to the point where you don't know who is living and who has passed over...not only do you have them to deal with you also have the psychic backlash of picking up everyone around yous problems and taking them on too...fun eh? no not really!
You also if you decide to help others will have to learn to deal with grief..and people who are in deep pain..and some will be angry and some will cling on like a barnacle to a rock when they think you know or have all the answers...
Thats why I think those who go on to become professional or full time psychic need to take some kind of counseling qualification..it prepares you and enables you to fine tune your empathy as well as maintain a professional distance to your sitter.
Please don't think also it will be handed to you on a plate and you will be able to run around and rescue lost souls... see for some they don't wanna be rescued and are quite happy nosing around..some may not be aware they are in fact dead and wont take kindly to someone walking around saying..."go to the lighhhht the liiight is good"...to them the light means many things and most of that is not good...so leave WELL ALONE.
Don't run before you can walk..learn the tools....learn to meditate and to appreciate silence only when we do that can we really hear what is being said...and hone that ...
Remember words have power ..what you say will be what they think will happen...so don't blurt out...OH NO THE DEATH card and OOH THAT DON'T LOOK GOOD..unless you want a hysterical person and a ruined career on your hands!
Be sensitive and the rule of thumb I use is this.... If I think that if someone told me this I would freak out or be upset then DON'T SAY IT! some psychic tutors say always say what you get...yeah thats OK if they are tactful and read the persons body language but if you cant see the person or have no sense and blurt out..oh god your mums gonna die 2morra...you have no right to be doing this work...in short THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!
If you are looking for a reading..word of mouth is a great place to start and if you get asked for a $100 so they can light a candle to rid you of your curse that you didnt know you had..do what I did..laugh and walk out...and DONT PAY!
So at the end of this little book...
We now know that with all kinds of psychic work comes great responisibilty...if you cant handle it and are not prepared to work at it and give up a lot of your time then the EXIT is clearly marked...
